If you’re looking for family fun over the Independence Day holiday and weekend, events are planned in Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty to keep you busy from July 3 through July 7.
North Liberty: Fireworks and car show
The city of North Liberty will host a classic car show and fireworks beginning at 7 p.m. July 3 at Penn Meadows Park, 355 E. Penn St. Fireworks will begin about 9:30 p.m. The free event will feature the Classy Chassy Cruisers car show. Restrooms will be available at Penn Meadows Park. Bring your own snacks or a picnic basket as no food or drink will be available. Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets to sit on.
The city of Coralville’s outdoor festival July 3—4 includes a 5K run/walk, entertainment, food, a free concert, an Independence Day parade, and fireworks in S.T. Morrison Park on July 4.
The free outdoor concert on July 3 will feature the Trophy Dads at 6:30 p.m. followed by Yacht Rock Revue at 8 p.m. At 10 a.m. July 4, one of the area’s largest parades will begin and end at the corner of 22nd Avenue and Ninth Street. View the parade route.
The Iowa City Jazz Festival will take place July 5—7 in downtown Iowa City. The festival features three days of live jazz performances on two stages showcasing notable national artists along with rising talent. There also will be artist booths, food, and a beverage garden. Fireworks will take place over the Pentacrest at dusk on July 5.
