A University of Iowa search committee has announced the first finalist for the next vice president for medical affairs and dean of the Carver College of Medicine.
Denise J. Jamieson is the James Robert McCord Professor and Chair for the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine and chief of gynecology and obstetrics for Emory Healthcare. Jamieson practices obstetrics and gynecology at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Her scientific work focuses on emerging infectious diseases in pregnancy and incorporates a population health perspective, with projects addressing health disparities and social determinants of health in the context of maternal morbidity and other adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Jamieson met with faculty, staff, students, shared governance, and campus leadership during a campus visit May 1—2. She participated in an open forum from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, May 1, in 2117 Medical Education Research Facility (MERF). A recording of her open forum is available here (HawkID required).
