A University of Iowa search committee has announced the first finalist for the next vice president for medical affairs and dean of the Carver College of Medicine.

Sandra L. Wong is the William N and Bessie Allyn Professor of Surgery and chair of the Department of Surgery at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Dartmouth Health. She also is Professor of the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. She is a surgical oncologist and health services researcher with a long record of research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the American Cancer Society.

Wong will meet with faculty, staff, students, shared governance and campus leadership during a campus visit Aug. 22—23. She will participate in an open forum from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, in 1110 Prem Sahai Auditorium in the Medical Education Research Facility, 375 Newton Road.
