Nothing says Homecoming at Iowa quite like an enormous edifice covered in corn. The tradition is believed to have started in 1919, when a group of enterprising engineering students decided the Pentacrest would look better with a bunch of ears of corn on it.

A complete schedule of Homecoming 2019 events can be found on the Homecoming at Iowa website.

The dedicated Hawkeye engineers who make the corn monument possible need your help. They've set up a GOLDrush campaign, and they're almost there.

They were right.

And so (with the occasional lapse here and there), Hawkeye engineers continued to build corn monuments for decades, eventually solidifying into a Homecoming tradition.

You can learn more about the history in this Old Gold column.

But for now, check out a photo gallery of the monument through the years. Which is your favorite?
