A NASA mission conceived at the University of Iowa is exploring how energized particles interact with Earth.

The missions, called, Twin Rockets to Investigate Cusp Electrodynamics, or TRICE-2, launched earlier this month. They're exploring magnetic reconnection, the explosive process that allows charged particles from space to stream into Earth’s atmosphere.
