Gov. Kim Reynolds honored top Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) students for outstanding achievement this week. The governor presented the Governor’s Cup Award to ten students involved in ROTC programs in the state. The awards honor the cadets for leadership, academics, and military achievement.

This year’s honorees who attend the University of Iowa are:

  • Cadet Col. Shelby A. Straughn, University of Iowa Air Force ROTC, the daughter of Duane Straughn of Hennepin, Illinois, and Tracy Cleary of Peru, Illinois.
  • Cadet Maj. Nathan J. Dittmer, University of Iowa Army ROTC, the son of Bruce Dittmer and Sandy Dittmer of Nevada, Iowa.

The ceremony took place at the Iowa National Guard Joint Forces Headquarters, in Johnston, Iowa, on Wednesday, April 25.
