A university search committee has announced the second final candidate for the next University of Iowa vice president for medical affairs and dean of the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.

Jay Brooks Jackson, professor of laboratory medicine and pathology, dean of the medical school, and vice president for health sciences at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, will meet with faculty, staff, and leadership at UI Health Care on Monday, Oct. 9, during a visit to campus. His curriculum vitae is available on the search committee’s website.

Jackson will also participate in a public forum from 5 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 9 in the Prem Sahai Auditorium of the Medical Education Research Facility (MERF), after which he will attend a public reception from 6 to 7 p.m. in the MERF Atrium.

Jackson is the second of two finalists invited to participate in a final round of interviews at the UI. The first candidate visited campus Tuesday, Oct. 3, met with faculty, staff, and leadership at UI Health Care, and participated in an open forum and public reception.

UI President J. Bruce Harreld will make a final selection and announce the new vice president for medical affairs and dean of medicine later this fall.
