Christopher G. Atchison, director of the State Hygienic Laboratory and associate dean for public health practice, was elected as secretary-treasurer of the board of directors for the Association of Public Health Laboratories.

Atchison is a clinical professor in Health Management and Policy in the UI College of Public Health, and holds secondary appointments in the College of Nursing and the Public Policy Center. He serves on the Iowa Prevention of Disabilities Policy Council, co-chairs the Partnership for Better Health, and is on the Board of the Child and Family Policy Center and on the Steering Committee for the National Academy of State Health Policy.
