Twenty-five graduate colleges and programs at the University of Iowa are listed among the 25 best in the nation, according to the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report.
Each year, U.S. News ranks professional schools in business, education, engineering, law, and medicine. The new rankings for each respective college at the UI are:
16. Carver College of Medicine — Primary Care
22. College of Law
29. Carver College of Medicine — Research
43. Tippie College of Business — full-time MBA program
43. College of Education
63. College of Engineering
Overall, the UI has 52 graduate colleges and programs ranked by U.S. News, according to the report.
Highlights of the rankings will be published in the America’s Best Graduate Schools 2016 guidebook, which goes on sale April 7. The rankings are also available online and may be found here. A paid subscription is required to access all of the data.
The yearly professional school (nonspecialty) rankings are based on two types of data: expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research, and students. The data come from surveys of administrators in the respective field, conducted during the fall of 2014.
U.S. News periodically also ranks programs in the arts, sciences, social sciences, humanities, and health. The specialty rankings are based solely on nominations by deans and deans of graduate studies, who were asked to choose up to 10 programs of excellence in each specialty.
Following are all ranked UI graduate schools, specialties, and programs, beginning with the highest-ranked programs. The UI offers 114 graduate degree programs, 76 of which lead to a doctorate.
