University—

Iowa Alumni Magazine, published by the UI Alumni Association, recently received two awards in the 2014 Pride of CASE V awards from region five of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The awards recognized “Time to Say No,” a feature article written by senior associate editor Kathryn Howe and edited by editor Tina Owen, which examined the topic of sexual assaults on college campuses. The article received an honorable mention in the Excellence in Feature Writing, Individual category and a gold award in the Best Articles of the Year category. Also dubbed a Platinum Finalist for Best Articles of the Year, the feature is one of only two from the CASE V region selected to advance automatically to next year’s national CASE Circle of Excellence awards.

The Pride of CASE V Awards Program honors institutions and individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement in the concept and execution of advancement programs and communications throughout District V, which encompasses Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. This year, the awards program generated 453 entries from 78 institutions.

These new honors bring Iowa Alumni Magazine’s tally to 15 national CASE Circle of Excellence and 16 regional Pride of CASE V awards. To read the article, visit www.iowalum.com/magazine/aug13/time.cfm.
