University of Iowa Vice President for Research and Economic Development Daniel Reed will receive both a distinguished alumnus and a distinguished service award in October.
The Miner Alumni Association at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T) will give Reed its Distinguished Alumni Award during the school’s homecoming Oct. 17-18. The award is bestowed to those who have made outstanding personal achievements in the fields of academia, business, professions, or civic endeavor.
On Oct. 24, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will give Reed its Distinguished Service Award, which acknowledges and honors spectacular alumni and faculty for their contributions to the discipline. Reed will be presented the award at the annual CS@ILLINOIS Awards dinner and ceremony, which will be held in conjunction with the department’s 50th anniversary celebration and homecoming weekend.
The Association of Public Health Laboratories announced on July 17 the election of State Hygienic Laboratory Director Christopher Atchison as secretary-treasurer of its board of directors.
