The period instrument duo ADASTRA, comprised of violinist Jennifer Roig-Francoli and harpsichordist Vivian Montgomery, will present a free public concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in Riverside Recital Hall, 405 N. Riverside Drive, in Iowa City.
ADASTRA is a Cincinnati-based ensemble formed by two faculty members of the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, communicating the spirit of Enlightenment through engaging performances of Baroque and classical music on historical violin and keyboard instruments.
The duo injects energy and passion into their performance of works from the early 17th century through the early Romantic era. The Iowa City concert will present a varied program of vibrant duos and solos by baroque masters such as Bach, Corelli, Biber, and Scarlatti.
ADASTRA's Iowa City performance is co-sponsored by the Iowa City Early Keyboard Society and the UI School of Music, which is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
