University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and UI Police will film scenes of a mock emergency Saturday, April 20 to be used for a May 7 training exercise.
The filming will take place in parts of the UI Family Care Center on the lower level of the Pomerantz Family Pavilion and on the third level of the General Hospital, South Wing, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The activity will not interfere with hospital business, and signs will be posted to alert visitors and passersby.
The UI conducts training drills and exercises throughout the year to prepare staff for a variety of emergencies. In the event of an actual emergency on campus, information will be posted to the UI’s Emergency Information website at e.uiowa.edu and sent by text, voice, and email via Hawk Alerts to campus subscribers.
The UI encourages faculty, staff, and students to make sure their Hawk Alert settings are up to date so they receive important emergency messages. Additionally, guidelines for staying safe in emergencies—as well as information about campus evacuation and relocation strategies—may be found in the UI Critical Incident Management Plan at www.uiowa.edu/cimp/incidents/index.html.
