The University of Iowa will host the Honor Choir Festival at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union on the UI campus.
The performance is free and the public is welcome.
One hundred students from Iowa high schools, nominated by their schools’ conductors, will compose the Festival Choir. They will sing the following pieces: Cantate Domino by Guiseppe Ottavio Pitoni, Veni Sancte Spiritus by Mozart, Life Is Now by Norman Luboff and Oscar Ahnfelt, and No Mark by Cecil Effinger.
The University Choir will join the Festival Choir in the performance of Veni Sancte Spiritus, and will perform other selections in addition.
The high school students will attend rehearsals with the UI School of Music ensemble Sunday and Monday, Jan. 27 and 28, to prepare for the concert.
