Graphic designer Draplin gives Oct. 3 lecture
Wednesday, September 26, 2012

The University of Iowa School of Art and Art History will present Tall Tales from a Large Man, a free lecture by graphic design artist Aaron Draplin, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Room 116 of Art Building West.

A Midwest artist who now lives in Oregon, Draplin studied graphic design at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design before heading west to work as art director of Snowboarder magazine.

In 2004 he founded Draplin Design Company, where his iconic forms and bold designs are steeped in a no-nonsense, Midwestern vernacular and work ethic, with the motto, "Work hard and do good work for good people."

The School of Art and Art History is a unit of the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. For accommodations at the event, call the school at 319-335-1771. For a UI arts calendar and details about upcoming events, visit the new Arts Iowa website.
