An estimated 4,000 University of Iowa students will move into residence halls Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 15 and 16, creating changes in traffic flow and access around the main residence halls.
An initial rush will begin on Sunday, Aug. 12 between noon and 5 p.m. and continue on Monday, Aug. 13 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., when the doors open for all students to move in. This move-in will be similar to past years, with traffic guards and one-way traffic around the Grand Avenue halls.
The remainder of the new students will arrive on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 15 and 16.
On the east side, Clinton Street will be closed to one-way traffic going south from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 15 and 16, beginning at the corner of Church and Dubuque streets and continuing on Clinton Street until Bloomington. The west side will be through traffic, and the east side will be for those who are unloading. All the meters on Clinton Street will be blocked these two days as well.
On the westside, the UI will also have traffic similar to Monday but will hood the meters so no one can park there all day Wednesday and Thursday; the area will be for unloading only.
