University of Iowa Children’s Hospital leaders announced today the Child Health Specialty Clinics (CHSC) have a received another year of funding for a project designed to improve the health and quality of life of Iowans.
The Iowa Public Health Association (IPHA) has selected nine locations across Iowa to become the sites for the recently approved second year funding of the IPHA AmeriCorps Health Corps project.
The CHSC project focuses on assisting primary care providers throughout Iowa in addressing obesity issues with patients, among other concerns. The project’s goal is to reduce the risk of preventable disease and obesity. This project represents a partnership with and grant investment from AmeriCorps and the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service.
The IPHA AmeriCorps Health Corps project runs from Sept. 4 through July 31, 2013. Applications are now being accepted for future AmeriCorps Health Corps members. Apply online on the AmeriCorps website.
