Leah Price, professor of English and chair of history and literature at Harvard University, will make a presentation on force-reading in Victorian Britain at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 19 in Gerber Lounge, 304 English Philosophy Building.

Price teaches the novel, eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British Culture, narrative theory, gender studies, and the history of books and reading. Price is humanities program director at the Radcliffe Institute and co-directs the faculty seminar on the history of books at the Harvard Humanities Center.

The Center for the Bookin the UI Graduate College and the English Department, in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences,are sponsoring Price’s talk.
