It's all for the kids — get an up-close look at UI student organization's big event

"For the kids." That simple reminder is all it takes to keep University of Iowa students moving during Dance Marathon's 24-hour culminating event.

Dance Marathon has become the UI's largest student organization, and the time and energy that students dedicate has paid off. In 2011, the group made a 10-year pledge of $5 million to support the new UI Children's Hospital.

This year's big event raised $1.3 million, with each dancer counted on to generate at least $400 in pledges. Paul Beckman and Nathan McNurlen, student video producers with the Office of Admissions, created this inside look as part of their "On Location" series.
