The College of Public Health, formally established at the University of Iowa in 1999, finally has a place to call home.

Toward the end of 2011, faculty and staff started moving into the new College of Public Health Building (CPHB), located on the west side of the Iowa River where the International Center once stood. The $47.7 million, five-story, 142,000-square-feet facility houses the college’s five academic departments: biostatistics, community and behavioral health, epidemiology, health management and policy, and occupational and environmental health.
Construction on the building, which was financed by a combination of state appropriations, federal grants, university revenue bonds, and private gifts, began in spring 2009. The university will seek gold-level certification in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, which would make it the first such academic building on campus.
A building dedication is slated for 4 p.m., Friday April 20, and will be followed by a reception and tours.
