Amie Barrodale will discuss her newest book, a novel called Trip, with Diane Vadino. Described by Farrar, Straus and Giroux as "an absurd, profound and irresistibly entertaining odyssey," Trip follows a mother named Sandra who, three days after her unexpected death, discovers her son Anthony has run away from a troubled youth center in the American desert, and only she knows where he is and how to keep him from joining her in death too soon. Mary Gaitskill praises Barrodale as "witty, soulful, and sharp all at once," while Ottessa Moshfegh says, "Amie Barrodale is the most important writer of my generation...She is a savant and a genius both."

Amie Barrodale attended the Iowa Writers' Workshop. Her stories and essays have appeared in The Paris Review, Harper’s Magazine, and other publications. In 2012 she was awarded The Paris Review’s Plimpton Prize for Fiction for her story “William Wei.” She is the author of You Are Having a Good Time: Stories.

Diane Vadino is a writer and visual artist from New Jersey. She is a graduate of Columbia University, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
