College of Education Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony promotional image

College of Education Undergraduate Commencement and Teacher Education Program Recognition Ceremony is held at the end of the fall and spring semesters to recognize all of the graduating Teacher Education Program students.

Doors open one hour prior to the start of the ceremony.

Dean Dan Clay will give the welcome and confer degrees along with UI President Barbara Wilson.

Matt Degner, an alumnus of the College of Education and superintendent of the Iowa City Community School District, will be the keynote speaker.

Ashley Rila, clinical assistant professor of special education and affiliated faculty member with the College of Education’s Scanlan Center for School Mental Health, will be the faculty speaker.

Lexi Moon, of Waukee Iowa, will be the student speaker. Moon is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in art education from the College of Education’s Teacher Education Program and a Bachelor of Arts in art from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Mark McDermott, associate dean for undergraduate education and educator preparation, will recognize those who completed the Teacher Education Program. Kathy Schuh, professor of learning sciences and educational psychology, will read the names of those receiving their Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies and Human Relations.
