The University of Iowa Libraries’ Digital Scholarship and Publishing Studio has appointed Deborah Elizabeth Whaley its senior scholar.

Hien Nguyen, associate professor in chemistry, has been selected to receive the 2018 Horace S. Isbell Award in Carbohydrates by the American Chemical Society.

Jeri King, assistant director of University of Iowa Facilities Management, and Erin Marsh, construction project specialist in Facilities Management, were among award recipients honored during the 2017 APPA: Leadership in Educational Facilities Conference held July 22 in San Francisco.

“Jackson Pollock’s ‘Mural’: The Story of a Modern Masterpiece,” a documentary produced by and created at the University of Iowa, has been nominated for an Emmy Award by the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Hundreds of people gathered to celebrate the dedication of the Elizabeth Catlett Residence Hall, the University of Iowa’s newest and largest residence hall. Named for renowned sculptor and printmaker Elizabeth Catlett, the 303,000-square-foot building offers an impressive view of the Iowa River on the east side of campus.

David McCartney, university archivist in University of Iowa Libraries, delivered a paper, “Documenting Activism: How the Digital Humanities Can Uncover the History of Protest,” June 16 at the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) conference in Washington, D.C.
