A pair of University of Iowa alumni have been honored as Entrepreneurs of the Year by the American Farm Bureau Federation for the business, SwineTech, Inc., which they founded while UI students using resources of the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC).

The University of Iowa College of Education’s Yareli Mendoza has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs advisory committee on women veterans.

Jeff Schott, director of the University of Iowa’s Institute of Public Affairs (IPA), has been granted lifetime member status in the Iowa City/County Management Association.

Joel Bolger graduated from the UI College of Law in 1978 and later took his first job in Alaska as a volunteer attorney. Now, after years of varied legal practice, he’s the only judge to have been appointed to all four levels of the Alaska court system.
