Peg Nopoulos, chair of psychiatry and professor of psychiatry, neurology, and pediatrics in the UI Carver College of Medicine, has received a five-year, $18 million grant to continue and expand a decade-long study on brain development in children at risk for developing Huntington’s disease.

University of Iowa professor Gail Bishop has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest general-scientific society and publisher of the journal “Science.”

Barry Schreier, a clinical professor in Counseling Psychology in the University of Iowa College of Education and director of University Counseling Service, was awarded the Association of University and College Counseling Center’s President’s Award for Meritorious Service to the National Field of Campus Mental Health.

The Three Minute Thesis is an annual competition sponsored by the UI Graduate College that encourages graduate students to learn how to clearly and concisely articulate their research to non-specialist audiences by explaining what they do in three minutes or less.

The Carver College of Medicine announces two endowed professorships, the E. A. Franken Jr. Professorship in Pediatric Radiology to Yutaka Sato and the Gary L. Soderberg Professorship in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science to Richard Shields.
