The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, has selected AGB Search from Washington, D.C., as the firm to assist with the selection of the next president at the University of Iowa.

“The hiring of a university president is one of the most important roles of the Board of Regents,” says Mark Braun, executive director of the board. “AGB has a great history of being able to assist in the hiring of outstanding university presidents. After discussions with the committee co-chairs, and review of all applications, we are confident that AGB will be able to provide great support in this important process.”

Among the duties for AGB in the UI search will be assisting in defining the goals of the search and developing the position specification and search timeline; identifying, recruiting, and cultivating potential candidates for the position of UI president; assisting in developing and engaging an effective candidate screening procedure; communicating with prospective candidates and facilitating candidate interviews; and conducting background checks on applicants.

AGB will be paid $90,000, plus expenses, for its services assisting with the search.

The Board of Regents is a group of nine citizen volunteers who govern the state’s three public universities and two special K-12 entities—the Iowa School for the Deaf and Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired—through policymaking, coordination, and oversight.
