In the award announcement, the society's selection committee cited students' appreciation for Boehmke embrace of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The committee also noted his commitment for "promoting interaction between students and faculty and thus furthering early professionalization of graduate students" in political methodology, the area of political science that works with data and statistics.
