The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, has announced the composition of the University of Iowa Presidential Search Committee. The 21-person committee will include voices that represent multiple UI constituencies, including 11 individuals with faculty appointments, three students, three staff members, a member of the administration, an alumnus, and two members of the Board of Regents. 

“The committee has followed the best-practices document developed with the Board of Regents,” says Sandy Daack-Hirsch, co-chair of the search committee. “I am pleased with the direction of the committee and the diverse voices that will be representing the university on the search committee.”

The Board of Regents office recently issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to solicit search firms to assist with the search. The firm will be selected by the co-chairs and the executive director of the Board of Regents.

“We have appreciated the collaborative approach from the Board of Regents, as the process is key to a positive outcome,” says John Keller, co-chair of the search committee. “The university should be confident that this will be an inclusive, open, and transparent process.”

Composition of the UI Presidential Search Committee will include the following:

• Co-chair Sandy Daack-Hirsch, associate professor and interim executive associate dean of the College of Nursing 
• Co-chair John Keller, professor in the College of Dentistry and dean of the Graduate College 
• 7 faculty members 
• 3 staff members  
• 3 students 
• 1 diversity, equity, and inclusion campus leader 
• 1 member from the Office of Medical Affairs   
• 1 faculty athletic representative  
• 1 alum
• 2 members of the Board of Regents  

The members of the search committee will be named on Tuesday, Nov. 10, when the Board of Regents’ November docket is released. The co-chairs are working with campus leaders, among the respective groups of constituents, to generate their nominees to serve on the committee.
