The University of Iowa search committee for the new associate provost and dean of International Programs has selected three final internal candidates. The candidates will participate in public forums from Nov. 8 to Nov. 15 to meet with faculty, staff, and students.

In March, Downing Thomas announced he will step down as dean of International Programs, a position he has held for the past 10 years, on Dec. 31 and return to faculty in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The times, dates, and locations of the open forums are as follows:

  • 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in room 101 of the Becker Communication Studies Building
  • 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in room 107 of the English-Philosophy Building
  • 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in room 101 of the Becker Communication Studies Building

The name of each candidate will be announced 24 hours before they are scheduled for an open forum. At that time, the candidate’s curriculum vitae will be made available on the International Programs dean search website.

Edith Parker, dean of the College of Public Health, and Amanda Thein, senior associate dean in the College of Education, are serving as search committee co-chairs. The names of the other search committee members can be found on the search website.

A final candidate will be named by the end of the fall 2019 semester.
