The search for a new associate vice president and dean of students at the University of Iowa is again underway.

A search committee made up of UI faculty, staff, and students is working with the search firm Isaacson, Miller, Inc. to find a replacement for Lyn Redington, who was named vice president for student life at Idaho State University in January 2018.

The Division of Student Life concluded the search for an associate vice president and dean of students in November 2018 but was unsuccessful in hiring the candidate recommended by the search committee.

“The associate vice president and dean of students plays a key role in shaping the student experience on campus,” says Melissa Shivers, vice president for student life. “I’m grateful for the work of the search committee so far, and look forward to finding the right person to serve  our students and the university.”

Liz Tovar, associate athletics director for Student-Athlete Academic Services, will chair the search. Other members of the search committee include:

  • Moala Bannavti, Graduate and Professional Student Government
  • Lori Berger, human resources, Division of student Life
  • Cassie Barnhardt, associate professor, Higher Education Student Affairs, College of Education
  • Monique Dicarlo, Title IX and sexual misconduct response coordinator
  • Keniese Evans, assistant director, Residence Education
  • Dexter Golinghorst, Graduate and Professional Student Government
  • Nate Levin, deputy counsel, Office of the General Counsel
  • Noel Mills, UI Student Government
  • Jessica Padilla, coordinator, Women’s Resource and Action Center
  • Colleen Scholer, director of communications, marketing, and design, Division of Student Life
  • Maria Guadalupe Bruno, executive director and assistant to the vice president, Division of Student Life

Angie Reams was appointed interim associate vice president and dean of students in January 2019 and has taken on the position’s portfolio until a new leader is named.
