The University of Iowa’s State Fair Working Group seeks faculty, staff, and student volunteers for the UI booth at the Iowa State Fair Aug. 8–18 in Des Moines.

The UI will unveil a new booth design this year that will feature exhibitors and volunteers from across campus, as well as the Hawk Shop.

Volunteers greet and visit with the thousands of attendees who come through the booth. They also apply temporary tattoos; distribute football posters and athletics schedules; hand out reusable bags, pencils, and buttons; and share news about the great things happening on campus. Volunteers should be aware that most shifts require you to stand.

All shifts are four hours each, and the days volunteers are needed vary throughout the fair. Shifts will be from:

  • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • 1 to 5 p.m.
  • 5 to 9 p.m.

Each volunteer receives fair admission, a parking pass, and a University of Iowa T-shirt.

For more information, and to sign up for a shift, go to the UI State Fair website.

The sign-up period closes Friday, July 12, to ensure everything is delivered to volunteers in time for the fair’s kickoff.
