Forums for campus input on the provost search will take place Aug. 23, 27
Wednesday, August 15, 2018

The University of Iowa will hold two open forums seeking input from campus on the search for a new executive vice president and provost. The forums have been organized by the position’s search committee and shared governance leadership will be sponsoring and facilitating them. Each forum will give the campus community the opportunity to share the qualities they value in and expectations they have for the next provost.

All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. The dates and times of the two forums are:

  • 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, in the Divine Nine Room (room 335), Iowa Memorial Union
  • 1:30 to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in the Iowa Theater (room 166), Iowa Memorial Union

In addition, the search committee is calling for nominations, which can be submitted through the UI Provost Search website. All nominated candidates will be screened, and those who meet the required qualifications for the position will be contacted directly by members of Isaacson, Miller, Inc., an executive search firm hired by the university.

Last spring, UI President J. Bruce Harreld named Gail Agrawal, dean emerita of the College of Law and F. Wendell Miller Professor of Law, and Teresa Mangum, director of the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies and professor of gender, women’s, and sexuality studies, as co-chairs of the search committee. The next provost will replace Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Sue Curry, who has served in the position since March 2017. Curry will serve in the role until a permanent provost is hired.
