Wendell Miller Professor of Law, and Teresa Mangum, director of the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies and professor in the Departments of Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies and English, as co-chairs of the search committee. Karen Shemanski will provide administrative search support.

The following committee members will join Agrawal and Mangum in the search.

The committee has selected Isaacson, Miller, Inc. as the firm to lead the search. The company most recently assisted with the search that resulted in the hiring of J. Brooks Jackson as the new vice president for medical affairs and dean of the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, and is assisting with the search for the next dean of the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The committee chairs are meeting with groups across campus to discuss the search. A website will open this summer, and nominations of outstanding candidates for the position are invited. If you have questions or nominations, contact the co-chairs via the search committee email address: provost-search@uiowa.edu.

The new provost will replace Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Sue Curry, who stepped into the role temporarily after Executive Vice President and Provost P. Barry Butler left the UI in March 2017 for a position at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Curry will serve in the role until a permanent provost is hired.
