What: The University of Iowa will have two viewing stations on campus Monday, Aug. 21, during the solar eclipse. Each will be equipped with telescopes and free eclipse-viewing glasses. Faculty, staff, and student experts will be on hand to demonstrate safe viewing techniques and answer questions. The Department of Physics and Astronomy, the Sciences Library, and the UI Museum of Natural History are co-sponsoring the event.

Additionally, each new student received a pair of eclipse viewing glasses when they arrived for the On Iowa! orientation program. The glasses were sponsored by the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the UI Astronomy Club, and the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership Coca-Cola Program.

When: 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21. The eclipse will be visible in Iowa City beginning at 11:46 a.m., reach maximum eclipse at 1:12 p.m., and end at 2:37 p.m.

Where: Viewing stations will be located on the Pentacrest and in the Sciences Library Courtyard, 120 E. Iowa Ave.

Who: Members of UI Astronomy Club, UI researchers, and student observers will be available for interviews at the Pentacrest location.
