A team of Iowa MBA full-time students finished in fourth place among 15 teams in a business analytics case competition sponsored by the Tippie College of Business.

The case this year was sponsored and developed by 3M and featured an actual industry scenario. Students were asked to analyze data from a 3M business group and create a tool that would better inform leadership and decision-making.

“It is a great privilege and honor for our student teams to work on this complex real-world problem from such an internationally respected organization like 3M,” said David Deyak, assistant dean of the Iowa MBA Program.

This was the second year of the Tippie business analytics case competition, one of the few MBA-level case competitions in the increasingly popular field of study.

The competition was held April 20 and 21 and won by a team from Vanderbilt University.
