The University of Iowa is now ranked among the top 150 international universities in the world.

The university was ranked 139 in the 2016–17 survey by The Times of London in its Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The UI was ranked in the 201–250 cluster of schools in the most recent survey in 2014–2015.

The survey considers a university’s number of international program staff, international students, and co-authors on international research papers, as well as a school’s international reputation.

The London-based daily newspaper ranked 980 schools around the world. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich was the top-ranked school, and MIT was the highest-ranked U.S. school at 22nd.

The UI is the only Iowa university or college in the top 150.
