Are you looking for ways to improve your workplace? Do you have concerns about an issue on campus? Do you know someone who wants to make a difference? Are you a person who likes to promote positive change? Consider nominating yourself or one of your colleagues for UI Staff Council.

Being a staff councilor is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the university, participate in some high-level discussions and presentations, and to be a voice for your colleagues.

Nominations open at 8 a.m. March 1 and run through 5 p.m. March 31. The Staff Council Nomination Form will be accessible March 1. The election will be held in April.

Some expectations for staff councilors:

  • Advocate on behalf of your constituents
  • Solicit information and opinions from your constituents and share those with the council
  • Inform your constituents of the activities of the council
  • Regularly attend meetings and participate in discussions
  • Actively participate in at least one council committee assignment
  • Discuss Staff Council expectations with your supervisor to make sure you can regularly participate

For more in-depth information, please visit the Staff Council website and review the bylaws.

  • Academic Support (PC), one open
  • Merit Supervisory Exempt/Confidential (MSEC), one open
  • Research/Scientific Services (PR and PH), three open
  • Administration; Audit, Compliance, Legal, and Risk Management (PA and PN), two open
