Vincent Liu, clinical professor of dermatology in the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, was named the recipient of the Robert F. Godwin Professorship in Dermatology. The five-year appointment became effective Jan. 1, 2017.

The Robert F. Godwin Professorship in Dermatology was established in 2008 by Dr. Robert F. Godwin and his wife, Mary J. Godwin, of Bettendorf, Iowa. This endowed professorship was established to support a scholar who has a distinguished program in the UI Department of Dermatology and acknowledges the faculty member for outstanding service to the department and to the dermatology community.

Liu, who also holds a faculty appointment in the UI Department of Pathology, joined the UI faculty in 2005. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed a dermatology residency and a fellowship in dermatopathology at Harvard. In addition to his clinical and dermatopathology duties, Liu is director of the dermatology medical student clerkship.
