Christopher Adams, professor of internal medicine in the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, has been named the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center Endowed Chair. The five-year appointment became effective Jan. 1, 2017.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center (FOEDRC) Endowed Chair was established in 2008 by the national Fraternal Order of Eagles. This endowed position was created to help retain the very best diabetes and obesity scientists at the University of Iowa. This position will help to support said scientists’ research efforts and programs in the area of diabetes and obesity.

Adams, who also holds a faculty appointment in the UI Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, earned his medical and doctoral degrees from the UI. His research focuses primarily on investigating the problem of skeletal muscle wasting and its relationship with type 2 diabetes.
