Brian Wolf, professor in the University of Iowa Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, has been appointed the John and Kim Callaghan Chair in Sports Medicine. The five-year appointment became effective Dec. 1.

The Callaghan Chair in Sports Medicine was established in 2007 by John and Kim Callaghan of Iowa City, Iowa, and Larry and Marilyn Dorr of Pasadena, California. This endowed position was established to support the academic pursuits of a UI faculty member who has a distinguished program in orthopedics with special expertise in sports medicine. This chair aims to help advance vital research, education, and patient care activities in the area of sports medicine and orthopedics.

Wolf is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, particularly injuries of the knee, shoulder, and elbow. He serves as director of UI Sports Medicine and as head team physician for University of Iowa Athletics.
