Program provides a comprehensive introduction to UI life
Monday, August 22, 2016

What's expected to be another record-breaking first-year class at the University of Iowa spent its first few days on campus receiving a special welcome courtesy of the On Iowa! program.

It's the sixth year for the program, which provides a comprehensive introduction to UI life, including the skills necessary to be a successful student within and beyond the classroom. From Aug. 17–21, the class of 2020 and transfer students had the chance to do everything from canoe on the Iowa River to attend major events such as Kickoff at Kinnick, Convocation, and President’s Block Party.

"You made the right choice. You're in the right place. And we're glad you're here,"  said Lon Moeller, associate provost for undergraduate education and dean of University College told students at Convocation.

"If you need any help, please know we're here. This is perhaps the start of the most important journey of your life," added UI President Bruce Harreld. "We believe in creating leaders who make a difference in the world. Help us make the world better. Help us make you better. Welcome to the UI."
