The University of Iowa’s State Fair Working Group seeks volunteers for the UI booth at the Iowa State Fair Aug. 11–21 in Des Moines. The working group appreciates all of the support it has received in past years and is eager to have help from faculty and staff again this year.

The UI exhibit area was changed last year, and the university is excited to share it again with UI fair attendees. If you joined the team last year, you’ll see some minor updates made in order to increase the sharing of our Hawkeye spirit.

Volunteers are needed to greet and visit with the thousands of fairgoers who come through the exhibit. Volunteers apply temporary tattoos; distribute football posters, athletic schedules, and other items; and share news about the great things happening on campus.

The UI booth is located in the Varied Industries Building at the fairgrounds. Shifts are four hours each: 9 a.m.–1 p.m., 1–5 p.m., and 5–9 p.m. Fair admission, a parking pass, and a Hawkeye T-shirt will be provided.

For more information and to sign up for a shift, visit the UI State Fair website. You can also contact the working group, co-chaired by Kristin Loupee Beckman and Liz McIntire, by email at president-state-fair@uiowa.edu.

The signup period will close Friday, July 15, so that the working group is sure to have everything emailed or mailed to volunteers in time for the State Fair’s kickoff.
