David Cwiertny, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Iowa, has been named a 2016–17 Congressional Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, or AAAS.

Cwiertny, also an associate faculty research engineer at IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering and director of the Public Policy Center’s Environmental Research Program, is one of only two fellows chosen among more than 100 applicants. He will spend the next year in Washington, D.C., focusing on the science and technology of water policy.
