After 24 hours of no sleep, no sitting, and no caffeine during the “Big Event,” the University of Iowa Dance Marathon made another record-breaking reveal. The group raised $2,424,031.22 to help fund pediatric cancer research at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics—an increase of more than 21 percent from last year.
More than 2,600 students attended the event held in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Ballroom on Feb. 5–6.
The funds will help provide emotional and financial support for more than 900 families that are part of the UI Dance Marathon community. Throughout the last 22 years, the UI’s largest student-run organization has raised more than $18.9 million “For the Kids.”
