The University of Iowa encourages the public to attend an open house and the first of two public meetings to discuss the proposed repurposement (Feasibility and Adaptive Reuse Study) of the existing 1936 Art Building located at 200 N. Riverside Drive in Iowa City. The meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 18, in Room 2520D of University Capitol Centre in downtown Iowa City.

The proposed scope of the study includes repurposing of the existing 1936 Art Building to determine what university function it may serve in the future. The study will also consider the fact that the building is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and is a significant landmark to Iowa City and the State of Iowa. The purpose of this public meeting is to receive input as the university considers potential reuse for the building. Drawings and other pertinent information will be available for public review.

During the open house the public will be able to discuss the project in an informal manner with representatives from the University of Iowa, along with representatives from INVISION Architecture who are conducting the reuse study.

Remarks will be noted and will become part of the official record. Comments may be mailed to the address below and will be received until June 18. All comments will be considered when making future project related decisions.
