Twenty three University of Iowa undergraduates traveled to the State Capitol in Des Moines on March 23, to showcase their research to legislators and their staffs.

Since 2006, outstanding undergraduate researchers from the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa have gathered in Des Moines for a day dedicated to Research in the Capitol. The presentation celebrates how undergraduates learn by doing research in a variety of fields. The annual event is coordinated for the UI by the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates.

During Research in the Capitol, students take over the rotunda of the State Capitol Building to display their original research done with faculty mentors. The poster presentations allow the students to share their work with state officials and reporters while discussing how research has enriched their educations, careers, and contributions to Iowa.
