The Iowa Board of Regents has approved a University of Iowa Health Care request to purchase property for a new patient care facility in the Iowa River Landing development in Coralville.  The property is near the UI’s new outpatient clinic and is part of an ongoing effort to decrease congestion on the main health care campus while also improving access and convenience for patients.

The property at 815 First Avenue in Coralville consists of approximately 1.09 acres of vacant land with a proposed purchase price of $1.5 million, which will come from hospital earnings.

Once the purchase is complete, UI Health Care leaders will report back to the board and seek permission to proceed with hiring an architect and initiate planning.

The board approved real estate acquisitions in the same block as this purchase in October 2014 and in October 2012.
