This information is being released in accordance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The Clery Act requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses, including timely warnings of crimes that may represent a threat to the safety of students or employees.

On Feb. 1, 2015, the University of Iowa Police received multiple burglary reports from Quadrangle and Hillcrest residence halls. It appears the suspects entered unlocked rooms during the evening hours of Saturday, Jan. 31, to the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 1, and stole property while the rooms were unoccupied or their residents were sleeping. University Police recovered much of the property and may have interrupted it while it was in progress. These cases are under investigation. More details are not available at this time, but may be released as the investigation continues.

University Police strongly encourages all residence hall occupants to secure their doors at all times, even when residents are leaving for short periods or are sleeping inside the rooms.

University Police is asking for assistance: If you have any information, call 319-335-5022 or email police@uiowa.edu.
