The University of Iowa is working to fix the pulley system used to raise and lower the U.S. and State of Iowa flags above the Old Capitol Museum.

Both flags were lowered Friday, Dec. 5, in preparation for raising the U.S. flag to half-staff in honor of the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. In the process, the rope became stuck.

UI Facilities Management is working to fix the problem, which may require use of a crane given the height of the Old Capitol dome.
