Monday, December 1, 2014

A portion of Burlington Street in Iowa City will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 2 to facilitate the removal of three overhead high-powered electric lines parallel with and adjacent to the CRANDIC Railroad tracks. This project is an extension of the University of Iowa's current Power Plant project.

A list of scheduled road closures follows:

  • Burlington Street will be closed between Madison Street and Riverside Drive at 7 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
  • The North-South section of Front Street will be closed from 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 until mid-morning Wednesday, Dec. 3.

During the 20-minute closure, vehicles without height restrictions can use the Iowa Avenue bridge. However, taller vehicles should use the Benton Street bridge.
